Respite Care

RespiteCare
Short-Term Stays. Long-Term Peace of Mind.

Caring for a loved one with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD) is a lifelong commitment—and even the most dedicated families need support. At Stoney Glen Manor, our respite care program provides a safe, structured, and welcoming environment for your loved one—while giving you the time you need to rest, travel, or manage life’s unexpected moments.

What Is Respite Care?

Respite care is short-term residential support designed to give family caregivers a break—without compromising the quality of care your loved one receives.

Whether you need help for a few days, a week, or longer, we are here to provide:

✔ 24/7 supervision and support
✔ A comfortable, home-like environment
✔ Structured daily routines
✔ Social interaction and engagement
✔ Medication management
✔ Nutritious meals and snacks

Your loved one will be cared for—just as you would care for them at home.

When Families Use Respite Care

Respite care is often the perfect solution when:

  • You need time to rest and recharge
  • You are traveling or managing other responsibilities
  • Your loved one is transitioning out of the family home
  • There is an emergency or unexpected situation
  • You want to “try out” residential living before making a long-term decision (see below)

For many families, respite care is an essential part of maintaining balance and preventing caregiver burnout.

A Gentle First Step Toward the Future

We understand that moving a loved one into residential care can feel overwhelming. Respite care offers a low-pressure way to explore this option.

Your loved one can:

  • Experience daily life at Stoney Glen Manor
  • Build familiarity with staff and other residents
  • Adjust gradually in a supportive environment

You can:

  • Gain confidence in the care provided
  • See firsthand how your loved one adapts
  • Make future decisions with greater clarity

What Your Loved One Will Experience

During their stay, residents are fully integrated into daily life at Stoney Glen Manor.

Each day includes:

  • Morning routines and personal care support
  • Meals shared in a warm, communal setting
  • Activities, games, and social interaction
  • Community outings (when appropriate)
  • Relaxation and downtime in a comfortable environment

Personalized Care, Even for Short Stays

Before each respite stay, we take time to understand your loved one’s unique needs, including:

  • Medical and medication requirements
  • Behavioral supports
  • Daily routines and preferences
  • Communication styles
  • Dietary needs

This allows us to provide consistent, individualized care, even for short-term visits. Our goal is simple—to make your loved one feel safe, included, and at home—from the very first day.

Flexible Options

We offer respite stays based on availability, including:

  • Weekend stays
  • Short-term (a few days)
  • Extended stays (based on need and availability)

We also maintain separate accommodations for male and female residents, ensuring comfort and privacy.

Cost & Payment Options

Respite care may be covered through certain Medicaid waiver programs, and is also available as private pay. We are happy to walk you through current availability, daily rates, insurance eligibility and payment options.

Our goal is to make the process as simple and transparent as possible.
